At the gates of Città di Castello, where Monte Arnato descends into the Upper Tevere Valley, lies Umbria Camp. It is a wonderful place: a stream flows through it, a swimming pool appears among the greenery, a lemon grove as a restaurant, facilities for the stay. Then there is the beach playground, the children's play area, the various spaces dedicated to campers and caravans, glamping, pilgrims, and free camping.
Its position dominates the valley below, where the Tevere River flows and Città di Castello, a rich center of art and history, is located. To the north rise the peaks of La Verna and to the south Monte Subasio, the two great stages of St. Francis's life; the spirit of the Saint has always been present here at Montesca, being a passage of his journey with the nearby Hermitage of Buon Riposo, and animated over the years by the inexhaustible desire for care and love that the Baron Franchettis brought to their residence.
